Let’s Get Ready To Rumble!

Bloggy Boot Camp

I want to apologize up front if this post gets a little loopy.  I quite literally got maybe 5 hours of sleep this past weekend, so I’m exhausted.  Mentally.  Emotionally.  Physically.  Exhausted.

I had the bBloggy Boot Campest weekend.  In case you didn’t know (and you might not if you don’t follow me on Twitter.  If you do follow me on Twitter, it’s possible you’re sick of hearing about it), I went to the Bloggy Bootcamp blogging conference.  I learned so much about how to make my blog better and more valuable to my readers (that’s YOU).   I spoke with so many awesome bloggers, some of which I never thought would ever speak to little ol’ me, about so many different things.  It really was an eye-opening experience.

I got to meet all kinds of amazing women.  Like Tara at Feels Like Home, my roomie.  She was a fabulous speaker (taught me all about SEO) and a fantastic roommate.  And Erica at Mommy’s Still Fabulous who taught me that you can still be fabulous even after you become a mom.  And Melissa from Organized Life By Design who is even sweeter in person than she was when she interviewed me on her radio show.  And I can’t forget my new Words With Friends BFF Amy from Accidental Musings.

And I also met some awesome people I’ve only tweeted with until now like Tiffany from SITS who did an amazing job of running the show.  And Amy from Resourceful Mommy who gave great tips on PR.   And Toni from The Happy Housewife who is so incredibly nice and actually hugged me!

Bloggy Boot Camp

So, I really thought about what I would like to accomplish with this blog and I don’t think I am really doing justice to my original intent.  When I started this blog, I really wanted to teach newer couponers the ropes of couponing.  And I wanted to write.  Instead, I got caught up in mainly posting coupons and freebies.  While these things are awesome, valuable, and possibly the reason you are reading, I don’t feel like I am being true to me and there’s not a whole lot of writing involved.  Not to mention, it’s tough for me to keep up with the hot offers since I can only blog at 2 distinct times of the day.

That said, over the next week or so, you will see some small changes as I morph this blog into what it was really meant to be.   I will still do grocery store ad and drug store ad match ups and will provide a weekly roundup of hot coupons and free samples.  I will also be incorporating a lot more tips and how-to posts.  And don’t worry, I will point you to those hot coupons and free samples on some awesome deal blogs I know.

Oh yea, and I think I am going to start using the term “cheaptastic”.  A lot.  I just thought of it and I think it could possibly be my BFF.

Disclosure:  If you currently use the word “cheaptastic”, I assure you I have never heard you say it or seen you type it.  Therefore, I am not stealing.  I am simply clinging to the 1 and only creative thought I’ve ever had.

Mirra Beauty Products Review, Coupon, & Giveaway!

Posted By Amy on March 9, 2010

Mirra giveaway of day

A few weeks ago, I received a box of full sized Mirra Beauty Products from The Kroger Company, as part of the Global Influence Network.   Boy did I have a great time trying these products!

About Mirra Beauty Products

Mirra beauty products are made with all natural ingredients like olive oil, aloe leaf juice, and cranberry, bamboo, honey, and chicory root extracts.  This must be why everything smells so good!  The line includes shampoos, conditioners, hair styling products, body washes, body mists, facial and skin care lotions, cleansers and cleansing cloths, eye firming and age defying creams, and cosmetic brushes.

My Opinion

I received the Exfoliating & Detoxifying Facial Cleanser, Protective Body Lotion, Color Care Shampoo & Conditioner, Wrinkle Reduction Eye Cream, Deep Moisture Day Cream, and Foundation Brush.

My favorite product was the facial cleanser.  This cleanser contains apricot seeds that do the exfoliating and oxygenated derma-beads that do the detoxifying.  I have acne prone skin and during my 2-week trial of this cleanser, my blemishes cleared up very nicely and my skin is incredibly soft.

My next favorite was the eye cream.  This cream really does help with eye wrinkles.  Even though I’m still a spring chicken, I have my share of wrinkles (thanks kids!) so I found it to be very helpful.

The day cream was my next favorite.  I get really dry skin in the winter and this truly helped to keep the moisture in while not clogging my pores.  I also loved the smell of the body lotion, but found it to be a bit thin.  I need more of a cream in the winter, but this would make a lovely summer lotion with its light, airy scent and feel.

Finally, even though I do not have color treated hair, I have been using the shampoo and conditioner.  These hair products smell great and made my hair very soft.  Oh yea, and the foundation brush was really nice, until I broke it.  I really should not be allowed to play with tools.
